This product was exactly what i needed! It easily holds a 30 lb bag of food and keeps it air tight and fresh. I have two of these containers because my two dogs eat different food - both are small so those 30 lb bags last a long time and I really needed something to keep their food fresh!!! It's lid flips straight up so you have plenty of room to scoop.

The container is large enough to hold a lot of beans and rice but not so big that I could not move it nor spill everything. The clear sides allow me to see how much I have at a glance even from a distance. Really helps in food management! I will be buying more. Convenient. Easy and inexpensive!

This is a pretty straight forward item. I use it to store dogfood. I had one similar but bigger & with wheels. I wanted to downsize the container and this was just right. It shuts tight to keep the contents fresh. It slides right under the bottom shelf of my pantry and being slim, leaves a lot of room for other items to be stored. If you're looking for a storage cotainer that is well made and this is the size you want - you can't go wrong.

I wanted a container that would both keep my schnauzer's food fresh, and also help prevent any weevils lurking in his food from getting into our other food. The hinged lid has a decent sized gasket to aid in an airtight closure. His dog food is small kibble (about the size of a pea), and the container easily holds a 17.5lb bag, but I don't think it would hold much more than that.
Excellent as a garbage pail September 20, 2009

I bought this not as a food container--though it would be excellent as that for the reasons listed below--but as a garbage pail. I recently moved into a lovely area where the wildlife (including ants) is more abundant than it was where I had formerly lived. Though I keep my home very clean, I have three cats. One evening about a month or so after moving in I was stunned to see a thin line of ants making their way from the front door to the kitchen where they were in the cats' food bowls. Given the bowls were filled with dry food I was surprised. And dismayed.
After repeatedly spraying with an alcohol-based cleaner that was not poisonous I got rid of the ants in a few hours. (I also had a very clean floor.) I then determined to buy a garbage can that was airtight so as not to risk attracting them again. I found this and bought it since it is advertised as "airtight" and the measurements under my sink indicated it would work, albeit sideways. And I must say that it lives up to its name. It is airtight. I place a thin garbage can-sized bag in it. Once it is about three-quarters full I tie it closed and replace it with a fresh one.
Its greatest assets are its (1) easy open-and-close lock; (2) its size and shape that make it easy to empty; (3) its ability to contain all odors once the lock is closed; and (4) its attractive colors. This is an excellent container that would also work perfectly for the cats' food. I ended up buying something else for that, but am not as happy with the locking mechanism as I am with this one. I may get two more of these for just that purpose. I recommend this highly!
